Suspect identified following shootings in South Austin

A suspect has been taken into custody by the Lone Star Task Force following a string of shootings in South Austin on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. The suspect was possibly involved in four incidents. He was identified by police as 29-year-old Charles Curry. 

According to police, dispatch was alerted of a gun shot hot call shortly after 2 p.m. in the 8100 block of the I-35 northbound service road. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a driver had been shot by a suspect. He was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was also possibly involved in three other incidents in the surrounding area. 

One other person was injured and transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to the Austin Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody around 6 p.m.

He was arrested at the Post South Lamar Apartments. This is the same apartment complex that 32-year-old Christian Meroney was shot and killed at on Monday, July 11. It is unclear at this time if the incidents that happened today are connected to Monday's shooting.
