Texas woman, daughter lived in house with skeletal remains for years

A 47-year-old woman was arrested in Texas after investigators learned that she had been living in a house with her daughter and the decomposing body of her own mother for years.

According to the Seguin Police Department, the skeletal remains are believed to be those of Jacqueline Louise Crayton. Investigators believe that sometime during 2016, Jacqueline suffered a non-life threatening fall in her bedroom at the residence she shared with her daughter, Delissa Crayton, and her granddaughter. Delissa failed to provide adequate assistance to her mother and left her to die within a few days while lying on the floor, according to investigators.

Jacqueline would have been approximately 71 years old in 2016.

From 2016 until July 2019, Delissa Crayton and her young daughter resided in the two-bedroom residence. The skeletal remains were found in one room, Delissa and her daughter shared the second bedroom, according to police.

47-year-old Delissa Crayton was arrested on Wenesday, July 10. She is currently being held at the Guadalupe County Jail on a $20,000 bond. Her daughter has been placed with family members.
