Hays County will continue prosecuting marijuana cases despite new hemp law

A San Marcos city councilman is one of several people asking Hays County to establish cite and release policies for possession of small amounts of marijuana. This comes after a new state law legalizing the production and regulation of hemp made it difficult to prosecute people for marijuana charges.

The Department of Education recently put a magnifying glass on Texas State University after an uptick in crime in San Marcos over the past several months. According to students, the word of crime around town spread quickly.

Suspected serial sexual assault suspect arrested in San Marcos

The suspected serial sexual assault suspect in San Marcos has been arrested. 20-year-old Tyshane Vris Thomas has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault for three sexual assault crimes that occurred in recent weeks, according to police.  

SMPD arrest "serial rock thrower"

A man described as homeless has been arrested and is believed to be the “serial rock thrower” that has targeted downtown businesses in recent weeks, according to San Marcos Police Department.
