Donations needed, violent crime and accidents lead to blood shortage in Austin area
AUSTIN, Texas - The nonprofit community blood center, We Are Blood, is experiencing a critical shortage in blood donations and is asking the community for support in replenishing their blood bank stores. According to We Are Blood, the critical shortage in blood comes after a series of accidents and incidents affecting local patients within their 10-county service area.

The nonprofit has been receiving fewer donations due to inclement weather and allergies that have impacted donors. O negative and O positive donors are particularly needed to ensure patients can receive life-saving care, according to the nonprofit.
Blood donations can be made at any three locations in North Lamar, Round Rock, and South Austin.
