Georgetown community remembers Rachel Cooke on 16th anniversary

The Georgetown community came together on the 16th anniversary of Rachel Cooke’s disappearance to remember her.

Cooke was 19-year-old when she went for a morning jog in 2002 and hasn’t been seen since.

On Wednesday, family and friends of Cooke gathered around a memorial tree dedicated to Cooke and shared stories. Cooke’s mother Janet Cooke asked the public to not give up hope and to continue searching for her daughter.

Janet held a big smile on her face confident in both the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers that her daughter will someday be found.

She gave the same pep-talk she gives people who are actively searching for her daughter.

“We may not know where she is but at least we know where she is not,” Cooke said.

Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody said he the FBI is actively working with his office to follow up on leads. He said he is also hopeful he will be able to find the Cooke family some closure.
