Man killed in Downtown Austin shooting identified; police investigating

A 27-year-old is dead after a shooting in Downtown Austin, police said.

Austin police said on Feb. 19, around 8:37 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 600 block of E. 6th Street.

A caller stated they heard multiple gunshots and could see a person lying on the ground.

APD officers arrived on the scene and found 27-year-old Anthony Brown. Brown had been shot and was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center. Brown was later pronounced deceased at 9:17 p.m.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident with no threat to the public. The investigation is still ongoing.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 15th homicide of 2023.
