Millions of people expected to travel for Thanksgiving holiday

AAA projects more than 55 million Americans are traveling for Thanksgiving. Severe weather may cause some issues as many parts of the country are dealing with heavy snow and wind.

No matter where you're going experts say you'll have to prepare for increased travel time.

AAA Texas says more than four million Texans will travel 50 miles or more for Thanksgiving. That's an increase of 2.5% from 2018.

Austin Bergstrom International Airport says the two days prior to the holiday are the usually the busiest times for them followed by the Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving.

Peak times for departures each day are 5 to 8 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.

In 2018, ABIA says that more than 26,000 passengers departed from the airport.

A new addition to the airport is 5,000 new parking spots right across from the main terminal.
