Austin Animal Center reminds pet owners to prepare animals for cold weather
AUSTIN, Texas - Winter weather is expected in Austin tonight and the Austin Animal Center is reminding pet owners to prepare their animals for the lower temperatures.
According to FOX 7 Austin Meteorologist Zach Shields, some parts of Central Texas will experience winter conditions this afternoon and tonight as temperatures are expected to dip close to freezing overnight and tomorrow morning.
ACC is reminding pet owners to bring their pets indoors tonight to protect them from the dropping temperatures.
"Temps are dropping tonight, so make sure your pets are prepared! Bring animals indoors, make sure they have shelter and a warm place to hunker down," ACC said in a tweet.
They are also warning the public about outdoor cats that may use car engines to stay warm and are asking people to be mindful if they park outdoors.
"Outdoor kitties like to seek warmth from car engines, so if you park outdoors make sure to bang on the hood before starting it up," ACC said in a tweet.
